Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta, Chamrajanagar

One of the tallest hills located in the Bandipur reserve is the Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta. The height of this hill is 1450 m and is densely wooded. The hill gets the name because of the clouds that cover the hill throughout the year; it is an abode for a lot of wild animals, predominantly, elephants.

This is the highest peak in the Bandipur National Park. The hill also has a temple of Venugopalaswamy (Lord Krishna). Himavad Gopalaswamy is 10 km away from Gundlupet. Entry fee to enter the premises is applicable and has to be paid at the entrance. The temple was built during the reign of the Chola King Ballala but later it came under the maintenance of Wodeyars of Mysore.
