It is recommended that travellers visit the Bheemeshwari Fishing Camp, which is located near Cauvery river, on their trip to Bheemeshwari. This fishing camp is recognised as the abode of mahseer fish, which is one of the largest tropical gaming fish.
Tourists can also see more than 200 bird species, including pied crested cuckoo, darter and grey-headed fish-eagle, at this site. Different types of animals can also be seen at this camp, such as spotted deer, sambar, elephants, jackals and leopards. This camp offers several activities like professional angling, river rafting, joy fishing, trekking, a coracle ride in the river Cauvery and fishing.
Log huts, tents, cottages, golghar (restaurant), campfire settings and hammocks are present at this fishing camp. Though tourists can enjoy fishing here, taking these fish home is strictly prohibited. The ideal time to visit the camp is from the months of June to August and September to February.
