Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary, National Parks in Assam

Located on the banks of the mighty Bramhaputra River, the Laikhowa Wildlife Sanctuary is part of the Laokhowa -Burachapori ecosystem. It falls under the administration of the Nagaon District of Assam. The Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary is a natural habitat of the Rhinoceros and the wild buffalo.

Apart from these two animals, tourists can also find Hog Deer, tiger, Leopard car, Elephant, Fishing cat, Civets etc. in the wildlife sanctuary. Moreover, there are more than 225 species of birds that can be spotted in the place. It is also a breeding ground for over 39 species of fish, 9 species of amphibians, 14 species of reptiles.

The best time to visit the Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary is from November to March. The nearest town to the wildlife sanctuary is Nagaon located 28 km. Guwahati is about 130 km from the district headquarters of Nagaon, and is well connected nationally and internationally.
