Borail Wildlife Sanctuary, National Parks in Assam

Spread across an area of 326.24 sq. km Borail Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the largest sanctuaries in Assam and is famous for Tropical Moist Evergreen and Semi-Evergreen Forests. Here, you will come across many species of mammals including Chinese pangolin, Flying Fox, Slow Loris, Stump-Tailed Macaque, Rhesus Macaque, Capped langur, Hoolock Gibbon and Himalayan Black Bear among others.

There are also many different species of birds including White-backed Vulture, Slender-Billed Vulture, White Cheeked Hill Partridge, and Mountain Bamboo Partridge etc. Reptiles found here include Rock Python, King Cobra, Brown Hill Tortoise, Asian Leaf Turtle and Monitor Lizard.

To reach this sanctuary you can catch a flight to Silchar (Kumbirgram) Airport which is only 40 km from the sanctuary. You can also travel here by road from the town of Karimganj which is also 40 km away. The best time to visit this sanctuary would be between the months of October and March.
