About 300 villages in the Dang District, of which Saputara is a part, provide housing for different indigenous people. Residents of the Dang neighborhood are referred to as "Dangi." They have a lively culture and language of their own. Painting and crafting are two skills that the people of the Dangi culture are naturally taught.
These nearby communities, which are a part of the Artist's Village, include the Bhils, Gamits, Kunbis, and Warlis tribes. Situated on around five acres, the town is home to about sixty artisan families. The artisans are proficient in a number of antiquated skills.
For the extraction of honey and timber, these people are dependent on the forest. The stores in the village sell a variety of items made from bamboo, including jewelry, paintings, key chains, pen stands, pottery, and vases. A variety of workshops are also organized by the artists to teach their techniques.
Saputara's Artist Village is also well-liked by the art schools that host different workshops for instructing professionals in their fields. Fine arts students frequently come to the village to observe the different elements of the profession and gain firsthand experience with the condition of Indian art.
