As the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden in Srinagar gets ready to open its gates on March 26, visitors can expect a breathtaking display of colors. Nestled between Dal Lake and the Zabarwan Hills, this garden marks the arrival of spring in Kashmir. With 1.7 million tulips of 74 different varieties blooming across 55 hectares, this floral paradise is a dream destination for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts.

A Stunning Floral Display
The tulip garden is not just about tulips. Alongside these vibrant flowers, visitors will also find daffodils, hyacinths, muscaris, and cyclamens, creating a beautiful mix of colors and fragrances. This year, two new varieties of tulips have been introduced, adding even more charm to the already stunning landscape.
From Small Beginnings to Global Recognition
The garden started with 50,000 tulip bulbs imported from the Netherlands. Over the years, it has grown into Asia's largest tulip garden and has even been recognized by the World Book of Records (London). Last year, more than 4.65 lakh visitors, including tourists from India and abroad, came to witness its beauty. This year, with over 3,000 inquiries before the opening, an even higher number of visitors is expected.
Tulip Spring Festival - A Celebration of Culture
Adding to the excitement, the Tulip Spring Festival will be held in April. This event will showcase Kashmir's rich culture, traditional music, and horticultural heritage. Visitors can enjoy scenic walks, cultural performances, and unique local experiences while exploring the garden.
Now in its 17th year, the garden continues to attract global tourists, strengthening its position as a top travel destination in Kashmir. As the opening day approaches, there is growing anticipation for a record-breaking tourist season.
For those looking to experience the beauty of spring, Srinagar's tulip garden is the perfect place to visit. So, pack your bags, charge your camera, and get ready for a magical journey into this breathtaking floral wonderland.
