When you hear the word hill station, you imagine high mountains, greenery, far spanning forests, lakes and springs. Saputara is a distinctly different place amongst the arid nature of Gujarat. It is on the north-east frontier of Gujarat and the second highest plateau in the Sahydari stretch of the Western Ghats.

Saputara is a top tourist place having many water bodies such as brooks, streams and lakes in the region. Saputara has experienced a lot of development as a tourism center with the likes of parks, boat clubs, ropeways and a museum.

It also has some of the best tourist points such the Sunset Point, Sunrise Point, Echo Point, Town-View Point and Gandhi Shikhar. Gandharvapur Artist Village, Vansda National park, Purna Sanctuary, Rose garden, Saputara Lake are some other tourist sightseeing attractions here.

How to Reach

Saputara is only 162 km from Surat and the Maharashtra state border is only 4 km away from Saputara. Billimora is the most convenient railway connect, and the nearest airport is Surat.

Saputara Tribal Museum

Saputara Tribal Museum

In Saputara, the population of the tribal people called Dangs is high. This tribal museum in the hill station is dedicated to them and their lifestyle. Walk in to catch a glimpse of the beautiful things they use like the handmade musical instruments, masks for dancing, elaborate costumes, ecology, lifestyle and more. Also displayed at the museum are stuffed birds, clay products and body tattoos that were used by the Dangs.

Visit the vibrant gardens at Saputara, perfect for visitors to enjoy a few restful moments here. While the rose garden is a beautiful yard that yields attractive, multihued roses, there is yet another one close-by called the Step Garden where a wide variety of plants and flowering pots are placed on a stairway. Also present at Saputara is the Lake View Garden, which is a popular picnic spot in town. The gardens make an ideal destination for a few peaceful moments away from the delirious city crowd.

The Honeybee Centre

The Honeybee Centre

Among the many sightseeing places here, you must visit the Honeybee Centre. This centre educates its visitors about the technique of honey production. You can watch the wonderful method that bees use to produce nectar and can even purchase the freshly produced pure honey.
