Road trip from Bangalore to Goa

Bangalore, besides being a metropolis, enjoys the advantage of being strategically located near many scenic places that offer a much needed respite from the rigmarole of daily life. Such a place is Margao located in Goa which sits up as a convenient weekend getaway destination from Bangalore. The best part is that you not only get to see Margao but also visit places like Tumkur, Chitradurga, Hubli and Sirsi on the way. This road trip covers around 740 km which takes around 12 hours from Bangalore.

Let's start from Bangalore city. Taking the Outer Ring Road, it would take you to the Tumkur road which directs you to Tumkur.

Taking AH47, you can reach Chitradurga from Tumkur which is around 130 km from Tumkur. Chitradurga is a beautiful location which is located on the banks of Vedavati river and is one of the tourist destinations on the way from Bangalore to Goa. Don't miss the Chitradurga Fort which falls on this route.

Travelling to Hubli

Travelling to Hubli

Hubli, another tourist destination on the way from Bangalore to Goa, is located around 210 km from Chitradurga. The Ranebennur Blackbuck Deer Sanctuary falls on this route. Some of the tourist attractions in Hubli are the Unkal Lake, Bund Garden and Gayatri Tapovan among the rest.

To see the Waterfalls at Sirsi

Sirsi is one of the best destinations you could cover on your road trip. Located around 110 km from Hubli, Sirsi has some beautiful tourist attractions like Unchalli Falls, Sahasralinga, Mahaganapati Temple and Marikamba Temple among other attractions. Some of the eateries here include Hotel Samart, Goudalli Biriyani Family Restaurant, Uday Bhavan, Satkar Hotel and Shalimar Hotel.

Yellapur is just 50 km from Sirsi. Located amidst the lush green forests of the Western Ghats in the Uttara Kannada district, Yellapur attracts nature lovers with its alluring surroundings. Satodi Falls, Magod Falls and Kavadikeri are some of the attractions not to be missed here. You can stop by at Shanbhag Hotel near the petrol station for food or snacks, and the mango pickle available at the store at this restaurant can be tried too!

Off to Goa!!

Off to Goa!!

Margao in Goa is around 168 km from Yellapur. This route has a toll road too. On the way you pass by Karwar which is 95 km from Yellapur. From Karwar to Margao which is around 72 km, the road an be driven slow so that you can enjoy the splendid views as you drive through the coastal highway (Edapally-Panvel highway).
