Bangalore city has people of different ethnic and religious identities. We do find many Christians in the several parts of the city. Many were built during the colonial age and there have been many developments as the city grew.

The churches have become an important part of the city's tourist attractions. The city is gearing up for the Christmas festival; a travel around some of the famous churches is what makes the festival more spiritual.

St. Mary's Basilica
St. Mary's Basilica Church is located in Shivajinagar and it is the oldest church in Bangalore. The present building was constructed in 1973 but there was a small church from 17th century.
It was elevated to the status of minor Basilica by the order of Pope Paul VI and till today it is the only church in Karnataka to have gained such status.
St. Mary's Basilica is the most popular church in Bangalore and attracts many devotees from year-round.

Infant Jesus Church
Infant Jesus Church was constructed as an honour to Infant Jesus in Prague. The church is dedicated to Infant Jesus and has been attached with many miracles.
The old shrine was built in 1971 in Viveknagar. A new church was built next to the old one, after its increasing popularity in 2005.
Thursday masses are given in 7 languages and thousands of people visit this church in Bengaluru.

Holy Trinity Church
Holy Trinity Church was built by the British in 1851. It is situated in Trinity circle and one of the prominent land marks in the city.
Built in the English Renaissance style of architecture, this church was taken over by Christian Indian Military post-independence. It was recently renovated and is one of the popular churches in Bangalore.

St. Francis Xavier's Cathedral
St. Francis Xavier's Church was actually built in 1851, but a new church was built later and it attained the status of cathedral in 1940.
St. Francis Xavier's Cathedral comes under the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bangalore. The shrine has undergone renovations and the domes were also added.
Today, the cathedral attracts many devotees and is one of important places in Bangalore.

St. Andrew's Church
St. Andrew's Church was earlier known as St. Andrew's Kirk, modelled after the Church of Scotland. This Presbyterian Church is situated in the Cubbon Park, a famous attraction in Bangalore.
St. Andrew's Church is built in the Gothic style of architecture with richly designed interiors. It has a Scotish touch and named after Saint Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland.

Sacred Heart Church
Sacred Heart Church was built in 1896 in Richmond Road. Over the years the number of followers of this church have increased.
Today, Sacred Heart Church is one of the well known religious places in Bangalore.

East Parade Church
East Parade Church is one of the major landmarks in M. G. Road, Bangalore. It was built on the site of Wesleyan Mission Chapel in 1865.
East Parade Church was extensively renovated in 2006 and it is a prominent historical building in the city.
