NH11 Sojourn: Places to See

Ready to drive down long dusty roads, where traffic is less and you are the master of the road? Then get prepared to journey on the National Highway 11. The trip will leave you mesmerised and get your adrenalin pumping. There are many places one can stop to see on the long drive. The length of the highway is 615 km.

It starts from Agra in Uttar Pradesh and ends at Bikaner in Rajasthan. One passes through forts, temples, monuments and much more in this stretch. So pack your knapsack and get ready to drive down the National Highway 11 to see the many wonders the road holds for you.

Agra

Agra

The beautiful city of Agra showcases the splendour of Mughal architecture. The Taj Mahal made out of pure white marble is a symbol of love and also is one of the Seven Wonders of The World. Other than that one can also visit Agra Fort, Akbar's Tomb, Jama Masjid, Keetham Lake and many more historical and architectural sights here.

Fatehpur Sikri

Fatehpur Sikri

Located near Agra is Fatehpur Sikri, a UNESCO world heritage site. An abandoned city, feel the pulse of this ghost city as you wander around its beautiful and empty palaces and hallways. One can see the Buland Darwaza, Panch Mahal,Anup Talao and more here.

Bharatpur

Popularly known as the 'Eastern Gateway to Rajasthan', Bharatpur is a paradise for birdwatchers'. One can see a variety of bird species here at the Keoladeo National Park, another world heritage site. Other tourist attractions here are the Lohagarh Fort, Deeg Fort, Bharatpur Palace and more.

Walk into Dausa and be sure that you see places like Chand Baori, a step well, Bhandarej,Khawaraoji and more. The beauty of the architecture here is certainly a sight to see. There are a few temples here dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Hanuman.

Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, is also known as the 'Pink City'. It is believed to be the first cty that was planned in India according to 'Vaastu Shastra'. There are many places to see here like the Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort, Sheesh Mahal,Ganesh Pol and more.

Sikar

Sikar, located in the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, is a city of havelis and forts. There are many havelis from the Mughal era and the forts that were built to protect the rich people who lived in these places. Places to see here would include Sikar Fort, Sai Dham, Madho Niwas Kothi, Rani Mahal and more.

Bikaner

Bikaner

Finally our long journey reaches it's final stop at Bikaner. Famous for its sweets and snacks, Bikaner has its own heritage to show. The beautiful Laxmi Niwas Palace, the Junagarh Fort and temples make up this city. It holds a Camel Festival every year in the month of January where events such as camel racing takes place.
