Lambasingi – The Kashmir Of South India

Have you ever heared of a place in the state of Andhra Pradesh which experiences snowfall? Yes, indeed there is one such place, which is the hills of Lambasingi which is often considered as the Kashmir of Andhra Pradesh. Lambasingi is a tiny hamlet which is located at a distance of 100 km from the town of Vishakapatnam and is located at an altitude of 1000 m above sea level.

About Lambasingi

Also known as Korra Bayalu, which in translation means if a person would stay out in the open, thwy would be frozen. The hamelt is surrounded by beautiful hills and dense forests which makes its a place of interest that cannot be given a miss.

The hamlet experiences a drop in temperatures to sub zero degrees along with chilly winds in winter which contributes to the snowfall at times during winter. The place always experience temperatures below 10 degrees on contrast to the normal temperatures of a humid southern state.

The hills along with its valleys opens up opportunities to various adventure activities in and around the place. Trekking,hiking and camping in the remote hill of the region does witness a large number of foot falls.The lonesome, undisturbes and almost not populated village is must visit for those people who are looking forward to sped time by themselves. The place is entirely covered by a blanket of mist and walk down the roads through the foggy atmosphere would surely envelope one with a magical charm.

The foggu weather of the place indeed makes it an ideal place for a ride uphill especially during the early morning hours. The hills along with the dense forests, valleys and plantations contribute significantly in making Lambasingi the abode of natural beauty and traquility.

Getting There

Lambasingi is well-connected by roads, it is about 100 kms from Vishakapatnam and around 991 kms from Bengaluru.

Places To See

1. Thajangi Reservoir
A small reservoir, located at a distance of 6 kms from Lambasingi. A brief halt at this reservoir would for sure be a delight for the shutterbugs. The hills in the background and the flowing water would make a picture perfect moment.

2. Kothapalli Waterfalls
Located at a distance of 28 kms from Lambasingi, lies the completely unexplored waterfall of Araku Valley. It is a beautiful cascading waterfall which remains still untouched, pristine form with no signs of any infrastructure close by it.

3. Uppada Beach
To get your dose of warm breeze away from the freezing winds head towards Uppada beach in Kakinada. A two-hour drive from Lambasingi takes you to this wonderful beach to enjoy the sea breeze and bask in the sun.

Food And Accommodation
Since this place is still not well-developed, there are no options for one to stay or for food. The nearest place to stay would be Vishakapatnam, where one could find plenty of options to stay.
