Indian Places Visited By Great Historians

India, known for its diverse culture has been visited by great Historians in earlier days. Don't you think it's nice to go back to your school days and dive into the forgotten history lessons and recollect the cold stares of your history teachers while they made you memorize the birth and deaths of kings, the chronological orders and the significant events that took place.

School-days are the best part of our lives and when I say this I am sure none of you would deny it. "NOSTALGIA is the only word that strike us when we think school.

Let the history repeat, let's see some places in India visited by great Historians during those days and relive those moments once again!

Megasthenes

An ambassador from the Seleucid kingdom visited Patna, located in the state of Bihar. Megasthenes has written a book called Indika in which he has captured the details on the fertile lands, the flora and fauna and also about the history of India. Pataliputra then is Patna today and has a lot of tourist attractions.

Some of the major tourist attractions are the Patna Museum, Patan Devi Temple, Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udhyan and many more.

Hiuen Tsang

Oh My God! pronunciation of this name took more time than knowing this great person I must say, a great Chinese pilgrim who spent considerable amount of his time in the university of Nalanda to understand the culture of India is a great thing. It is said that Hiuen Tsang has travelled to almost all parts of India including Kashmir and Punjab during his stay here and he says that Kanauj and Prayag (Allahabad) were the major cities of India.

Attractions in Kanauj : Archaeological Museum, Gauri Shankar Temple, Lakh Bahosi Bird Sanctuary and Annapurna temple

Attractions in Prayag : Triveni Sangam, Allahabad Fort, Allahabad museum, Khusro Bagh, Alfred Park

Ibn Battuta

Ibn Battuta

A famous Moroccan traveller and scholar who sought employment under the famous Sultan of Delhi, Mohammed Bin Tughlaq can never be forgotten. It looks like there are no parts in India that has been untouched by Ibn. He says that Hansi in Haryana is the most beautiful city with a great planning. It is said that the traveller has touched some parts of Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil-Nadu as well.
