World Heritage Week Overview:

World Heritage Week serves as a beacon, guiding us to explore, appreciate, and contribute to the preservation of our cultural and natural heritage. In India, where history echoes in every corner, this week is a moment to reflect on our 38 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, each telling a tale of the nation's glorious past.

Agra's Majestic Tribute:

In the iconic city of Agra, where the Taj Mahal stands as an eternal testament to love, World Heritage Week dawned with a gesture as grand as the marble marvel itself. The ASI, custodian of our heritage, waived entry fees to monuments, allowing tourists to explore the wonders of Agra, including the Taj Mahal, without any financial constraint.

The Supreme Court's recent decision allowing online booking for night viewing at the Taj Mahal adds a new layer of accessibility, promising a surge in tourism for this historical city.

Aurangabad's Cultural Tapestry:

Moving westward to Aurangabad, the ASI Aurangabad circle orchestrated a symphony of events to weave a cultural tapestry that mirrors Maharashtra's heritage. Home to 285 monuments and sites of national importance, including the awe-inspiring Ajanta and Ellora caves, the city resonates with stories of an ancient past.

Exhibitions, lectures, quizzes, and cultural programs became the pulse of Aurangabad during World Heritage Week, inviting students, communities, and tourists to partake in the festivities and explore the wonders under ASI's watch.

Hyderabad's Heritage Walk:

In the city of pearls and palaces, Hyderabad, a heritage walk at the Qutb Shahi tombs painted a vivid picture of the region's historical and culinary legacy. Organized by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC), in collaboration with the Telangana State Archaeology and Museums Department, the walk delved into the city's rice heritage, a celebration of culinary traditions that make Hyderabad a gastronomic delight.

As participants reveled in a traditional Hyderabadi breakfast, followed by a guided tour and a captivating talk on Hyderabad's rice heritage by a food historian, the event aimed to not only showcase the city's history but also contribute to the conservation of the Qutb Shahi tombs.
