Aharbal Falls

A stream of the Jhelum river, Aharbal Falls flows in abundance down this canyon providing a majestic view. The cascade may not be very powerful but the sheer volume of water that flows down from it is unbelievable. That's what makes this spectacular falls the most memorable and massive one in the whole Kashmir Valley. Settled 80 km from Srinagar, Aharbal falls is located close to Pulwama at an altitude of 6,700 km. Filled with outdoor activities like trekking, Trout fishing, rafting etc., Aharbal is one of the best places to visit near Kargil.

Shikargah

A popular hunting spot among the royals, Shikargah was visited by Maharaja Hari Singh, the famous one to rule the province of Jammu & Kashmir, who admired the rich vegetation present at the site. Encircled by thick forests and contemplated upon by the snow-clad ranges, the site is located at an altitude of 6390 ft, at the intersection of the mountains of Kherwon and Wasturwan. The wide range of lush flourishing slopes surrounded by thick trees of the woods makes this one of the best places near Kargil.

Tarsar Marsar Trek

One of the most popular treks of the Kashmir Valley is the Tarsar Marsar Trek that takes one to the unblemished site where these twin lakes reside. Situated in the site of Aru of the Anantnag district in the Kashmir Valley, these almond-shaped lakes lie separated by a mountain and surrounded by the breathtaking ranges including the Kolahoi mountain massif. The Marsar Lake lies close to the Dachigam National Park and together with the Tarsar Lake, these are known as the twin sisters.

Having been known since 16th century, these lakes were mentioned by Yusuf Shah Chak, the ruler of Kashmir at the time, in his lovely poetry dedicated to his beloved. Flowing in the opposite directions, Tarsar Lake flows into the Lidder River, 15 kilometres from here, at Lidderwat, while the Marsar Lake drains out to the other side of the Aru. The lakes freeze during the winters from December to March and sees heavy snowfall around this time. Perched at an elevation of 3,795 metres, the best part about the lakes is their location in Aru, which is the most pristine side of the Kashmir Valley, untouched and unparalleled in beauty. Scenic views of the tarsaar maar can be witnessed from the shore line Mughal gardens, such as Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh built during the reign of Mughal Emperor Jahangir and from houseboats cruising along the lake in the colourful shikaras.

Betaab Valley

Betaab valley is situated at a distance of 15 kilometers from Pahalgam in Anantnag district in India's northernmost state of Jammu and Kashmir. The valley got its name from the Sunny Deol-Amrita Singh hit debut film Betaab. The Valley is towards northeast of Pahalgam and falls between Pahalgam and Chandanwadi and is en route Amarnath Temple Yatra. The valley surrounded by lush green meadows, snow clad mountains and covered with dense vegetation....................

Nishat Garden

Nishat Bagh is a terraced Mughal garden built on the eastern side of the Dal Lake, close to Srinagar in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is the largest Mughal garden in the Kashmir Valley . Shalimar Bagh, which is also located on the bank of the Dal Lake. 'Nishat Bagh' is Urdu, which means Garden of Joy, Garden of Gladness and Garden of Delight.
