Bangalore Literature Fest: Of Books, Authors and Travel Too...

By Shruthi

The second edition of Bangalore Literature Fest (BLF) is here! To be held from 27th to 29th of September, BLF 2013 promises to recreate or even improve the magic of 2012 fest. Being a global affair, BLF has managed to gain starry collaborations and media spotlight. BLF is not just for bookworms as the popular notion holds; it is for all of you who appreciate things around - extraordinary or otherwise.

If you're a Bangalore resident and happen to think of yourself as an artist or otherwise, this makes for a perfect weekend plan. And if you're not a Bangalore resident, this is the best reason to plan your trip to the Garden City.

Getting there...

Getting to Bangalore is no big deal from any corner of the world. BLF 2013 will be held at Crowne Plaza, Velankani Park, Electornic City. The venue is close to 53 km from the Bangalore International Airport and only 22 km from the main Railway Station at Majestic. Tourists can catch comfortable Volvo buses to Electronic City from all parts of Bangalore. Once you get to Silk Board, getting to Electronic City isn't a problem because frequent BMTC buses ply all day long.

Your Stay...

Crowne Plaza, the host venue itself is a top-class business hotel. A stay here would mark your presence in all the events scheduled for 3 days at BLF. The other hotels in Electronic City listed by Native Planet are Keys Bangalore, La Classic, and Lemon Tree. For those of you looking for budget hotels, Electronic City and Hosur road have many in store. The many staying options in Kormangala and Old Airport Road could also be explored since they are in close proximity to the main venue.

Travel Around...

Your visit to Bangalore is a complete justice only when you cover a few (if not all) the places in and around Bangalore. There are many destinations and weekend getaways that could be covered in a day or two. Name the direction and we will name a place worth visiting. Rediscover wonder in a day at Nandi Hills - Lepakshi; or explore royalty at Mysore; or get closer to nature at Shivanasamudra; or even pay a visit to wildlife at Bannerghatta. If time permits, attend a show or two at Ranga Shankara.

Take the local buses, shop in the streets of M.G. Road and eat the traditional cuisine here. Plan your trip in such a way that you don't miss your favourite events at BLF and at the same time allow enough time to experience Bangalore. With options so wide and beauty so abundant, we hope that your trip to Bangalore and BLF 2013 will be one of the most satisfying ever!
