Akshardham Temple: A Spiritual Abode in Delhi

Akshardham Temple is an exotic architecture built in Delhi. It is a spiritual and cultural centre which follows Swaminarayan faith of Hinduism. Hence, the temple is also called as Swaminarayan Akshardham Mandir. It is a modern Hindu sect which follows the principles of Swaminarayan (1781 - 1830). The followers believe that Swaminarayan is a form of Lord Vishnu.

Swaminarayan Akshardham Mandir in Delhi is the world's largest Hindu Temple. Akshardham in Gandinagar and New Delhi were conceptualised by Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the head of Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Sanstha (BAPS).

The temple with all its intricate features and gigantic structures is one of the major tourist places in Delhi. There are many attractions within the complex: Akshardham Mandir, Abhisheka Mandap, Neelkanth Darshan, Sanskruti Darshan, Sahaj Anand Water Show, Lotus Garden and Exhibitions.

The grand architecture holds many years of Indian culture, traditions, art and spiritual messages. Hence, Akshardham also signifies to be an 'Abode of God'. This spiritual centre is one of the major landmarks under Delhi tourism.

The temple was inaugurated by Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam on November 6th 2005. It is built according to the ancient Indian scripts like Vastu Shastra and Pancharatra Shastra.
