Ahmedabad to Bhuj: Namo Bharat Rapid Rail Launched; 9 Stations, Travel Time Just 6 Hours

India's first Vande Bharat Metro named Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is set to begin its journey, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated this new service on September 16, 2024. The train will connect Ahmedabad and Bhuj in Gujarat, covering the 334 km distance in just 5 hours and 45 minutes. Designed like a city metro but for longer distances, this semi-high-speed train aims to provide a faster and more comfortable journey for passengers.

Key Features of Namo Bharat Rapid Rail

The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail is a semi-high-speed train, capable of running at speeds between 100 to 250 kilometers per hour. It is fully air-conditioned and features 3x3 bench-type seating, offering a comfortable experience for passengers. The train is designed to accommodate a large number of travelers, with a capacity of 1150 seated passengers and room for 2058 standing passengers.

One of the standout features of the train is its wheelchair-accessible toilets, making it convenient for physically challenged passengers. Additionally, the train is equipped with a talk-back system, allowing passengers to communicate directly with the train driver in case of emergencies. For enhanced safety, the train has a sensor system with 14 sensors to detect fire and smoke, ensuring immediate hazard detection and response.

Advanced Production and Expansion Plans

Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh, recently visited the Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala, where he inaugurated the production of the Amrit Bharat coach and inspected the manufacturing of the Vande Bharat Metro coach. Currently, the Vande Bharat Metro operates with 12 coaches, but the Railways plans to expand this to 16 coaches to better serve passengers.

With engines at both ends and automatic sliding doors, this train is designed for unreserved travel, providing modern amenities to make the journey smoother and more enjoyable.

Train Schedule and Stops

The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will operate six days a week, making travel between Ahmedabad and Bhuj more convenient. The train will depart from Bhuj at 5:50 am and arrive in Ahmedabad by 10:50 am. On its return, it will leave Ahmedabad at 5:30 pm and reach Bhuj by 11:10 pm. This service will make stops at nine key stations:

  • - Anjar
  • - Gandhidham
  • - Bhachau
  • - Samakhiali
  • - Halvad
  • - Dhrangadhra
  • - Viramgam
  • - Chandlodiya
  • - Sabarmati

Each stop will last for two minutes, allowing passengers to board and exit the train quickly.

Enhancing Connectivity Between Ahmedabad and Bhuj

The new Vande Bharat Metro service is expected to greatly improve connectivity between Ahmedabad and Bhuj, two important cities in Gujarat. By reducing the travel time to under 6 hours, this service will provide a faster, more efficient option for travelers who regularly commute between these cities. The introduction of this new train reflects the government's commitment to improving public transportation and offering passengers a comfortable travel experience with modern facilities.
