Sattal Christian Ashram, Sattal

The Sattal Mission Estate and Methodist Ashram was founded by E. Stanley Jones, a Christian missionary, in the year 1930. The founder was a friend of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King. This ashram was built in an area that was earlier a tea estate. Earl Denman, who tried to climb Mount Everest along with Tenzing Norgay in 1947, stayed here for many years.

The St. John's Church is situated within the ashram’s complex and represents the colonial architectural style. As a ‘Vanaprastha Ashram’, it has spread Christianity in the Kumaon region.
