The Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), colloquially known as Merut's Rapid Train, is an under-construction semi-high speed rail and regional rail corridor connecting the National Capital Region (NCR) cities of Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut. RRTS is designed for a maximum speed of 180 km/h and operational speed of 160 km/h, whereas the metro reaches a maximum speed of 80 km/h with an average speed of 35 km/h.

RRTS boasts only 22 stations along its 82.15 km route compared to the Meerut Metro's 25 stations along a 38.6 km route, reducing travel time and enhancing average speed.

RRTS employs the European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 or Level 3 of ERTMS, enabling automatic train protection and operation. The metro relies on a conventional signalling system requiring manual intervention.

RRTS ensures smooth and uninterrupted movement with dedicated tracks separated from road traffic and other rail lines. The metro shares tracks with other trains, encountering road crossings and congestion.
