Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, recently experienced a heavy downpour, with 300 mm of rainfall recorded overnight in just six hours. This has led to waterlogging in several areas and prompted the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to declare a holiday for schools on Monday. Furthermore, around 50 flights have been cancelled by various airlines due to the extreme weather conditions. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, heavy rainfall on Monday and very heavy rains in the next 2-3 hours. A yellow alert has also been issued for several other districts in Maharashtra, including Pune, Ratnagiri, Raigad, Sindhudurg, Amravati, and Nagpur.
