To enhance passenger experience, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has teamed up with an online food delivery platform to introduce pre-ordered meals on trains.

Passengers are no longer limited to pantry food options but can now choose from a variety of eateries using the IRCTC official service. This innovative initiative enables travelers to order meals from their favorite restaurants or food chains and have them delivered directly to their seats while onboard a train.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to order food on Zomato while traveling by train:
1. Open the Zomato app on your smartphone.
2. Search for 'Train' in the search bar at the top.
3. Enter your PNR number when prompted to proceed.
4. Choose from the selection of available eateries.
5. Select the restaurant and specify the delivery station of your choice.
6. Place your order and make the payment.
It's important to note that passengers should order food in advance, and Zomato will track the train's status in real-time to ensure timely delivery.
The Zomato train meal ordering and delivery services are exclusively available to rail passengers with valid railway tickets and PNRs. Customers must provide a valid PNR number to place an order on the Zomato platform. Incorrect PNR numbers may result in incomplete or unsuccessful deliveries, for which Zomato will not be held liable. Additionally, if a passenger disembarks from the train before the designated delivery station, Zomato will not deliver the order to any other station or train.
Regarding the cancellation policy, Zomato stipulates that orders cannot be cancelled within two hours of the train's expected arrival time at the designated stop. Cancellations are only permissible up to two hours before the scheduled arrival time. In case of a cancelled order within the specified time frame, a full refund of the order value will be issued.
Furthermore, if the train's scheduled arrival is delayed, Zomato will make efforts to deliver the order, although delivery is not guaranteed. A station convenience fee (excluding taxes) will be charged to facilitate deliveries to the train's seat or sleeper.
Overall, this partnership between IRCTC and Zomato aims to offer passengers a convenient and hassle-free dining experience during their train journey.
