Namma Metro's Yellow Line in Bengaluru is going to run trains more often starting next month. Currently, the metro on this line operates with six trains, and because of this, passengers have been waiting longer, and trains feel crowded during peak travel times.

New Trainset for Bengaluru's Namma Metro
To improve the service, an eighth trainset has now been sent from the manufacturer in Kolkata and is on its way to Bengaluru. This new six-coach train is expected to reach the city soon after Sankranthi around mid-January, arriving at the Hebbagodi metro depot. Once it completes its required tests, including a long trial run on the mainline, it should start carrying passengers around mid-February.
In addition to the eighth train, the seventh train, which was delivered in December, is being tested on the tracks. Officials say this testing is taking place mostly at night, and they expect to confirm when it will be ready for passenger service soon.
With more trains available, the interval between trains during busy hours will become shorter, meaning a train will arrive about every 10 minutes or less once both new trains are in service. This will be a big help for commuters who have been waiting longer due to the current schedule. The improved frequency will also help outside of peak hours.
Namma Metro's Yellow Line
The Yellow Line itself runs about 19 km from Rashtreeya Vidyalaya Road to Bommasandra and has been operational since August 2025. It connects key parts of the city, including the tech-hub areas like Electronics City.
Moreover, adding more trains and reducing wait times should make daily travel easier and more comfortable for many metro users.
