The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted significant rainfall across various states on Wednesday. Mumbai and Delhi are under a yellow alert due to anticipated heavy showers. "Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls (≥ 20 cm) is very likely at isolated places over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Gujarat state," IMD stated in its latest bulletin.

Delhi is expected to experience moderate rainfall on Wednesday, July 24, with temperatures ranging between 34 and 26 degrees Celsius. The Regional Weather Forecasting Centre in Delhi mentioned on X that light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is likely in North Delhi, North-West Delhi, West Delhi, South-West Delhi, NCR (Gurugram, Manesar), Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Rajaund, Assandh, Safidon, and Panipat.
Heavy Rainfall in Mumbai
Mumbai will continue to see moderate to heavy rainfall on Wednesday. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has predicted a high tide of 4.07 metres at 1:30 am on July 24. According to the Mumbai Regional Meteorological Department's district forecast and warning bulletin, the city remains under a yellow alert with potential heavy rain at isolated spots.
The city has been experiencing continuous heavy rain for the past few weeks. Due to this persistent downpour, several roads have been waterlogged causing traffic disruptions. The Mumbai Police have advised citizens to avoid coastal areas because of the severe weather conditions.
IMD Weather Update
On Wednesday, July 24, isolated areas in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. The IMD also predicts significant rainfall at isolated locations over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, Vidarbha, Jharkhand among others.
The weather agency has issued warnings for other regions as well. Heavy rain is anticipated in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad along with Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Additionally, parts of Kerala & Mahe and Coastal Karnataka are also expected to experience substantial rainfall.
Mumbai's civic body was already on alert after an orange alert was issued for the city on Monday. The continuous rains have led to waterlogging in several areas and traffic jams across the city.
The IMD's predictions indicate that several states will face significant weather challenges due to these heavy rains. Citizens are advised to stay updated with local weather reports and take necessary precautions during this period.
