In the next few days, Visakhapatnam will serve as the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, according to the state's chief minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The CM commented while speaking at a conference to prepare for the Global Investors Summit, which will take place in Visakhapatnam in March. Reddy announced that in the upcoming months, he will move his office to Vishakhapatnam.

Nine years after Telangana's statehood was formed out of its territory & Hyderabad was designated as its capital, the state of Andhra has announced plans for a new capital.
"Here I am to invite you to Visakhapatnam which will be our capital in the days to come. I will also be shifting to Visakhapatnam in the months to come" said CM Jagan Mohan Reddy.

He added, on March 3-4 (in Visakhapatnam), we're hosting a worldwide summit for investors. I want to use this opportunity to personally invite every one of you to the summit and ask that you not only attend but also spread the news about it to your colleagues abroad.

During the International Diplomatic Alliance summit in Delhi, he urged investors to visit us and witness, how easy it is to conduct business in Andhra Pradesh. In order to construct Amaravati as the state capital, the N Chandrababu Naidu-led administration purchased more than 33,000 acres of land from farmers in 2015.

The state government desired three capitals Visakhapatnam as the executive capital, Amaravati as the legislative capital, and Kurnool as the judicial capital and approved the necessary legislation after Jagan Mohan Reddy assumed power in 2019.

In November of last year, the controversial Andhra Pradesh Decentralisation & Inclusive Development of All Regions Act, 2020 which sought to establish three capitals for the state was repealed by a bill that the Jagan Mohan Reddy administration had passed in the Assembly.

Speaking on the floor of the Assembly, Jagan stated that after closing gaps in the previous version, the administration would release a full, complete, and better Bill. In March of last year, the AP High Court rejected the 3 capitals and instructed the administration to designate Amaravati as the state capital as intended.

In addition, the court determined in its March 3, 2022 decision that the state legislature does not have the right to enact any legislation regarding the relocation, division, or trifurcation of the capital. The High Court Order was contested by the state administration in a petition to the Supreme Court. The High Court also set deadlines for the advancement of Amaravati.

Despite the ongoing Supreme Court litigation, several ministers have explicitly stated that the government would introduce a new Bill on the 3 capitals problem.
