Vande Bharat Express To Revolutionize Tripura-Guwahati Travel

The launch of the Vande Bharat Express in Tripura, significantly reducing travel time to Guwahati, marks a major rail connectivity boost in the region. This comes as part of ongoing electrification efforts by the NFR, with the high-speed train service expected to begin operations soon, following Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik's announcement.

Tripura is on the brink of a significant transportation upgrade with the introduction of the Vande Bharat Express, as announced by Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik. This development is set to drastically reduce the travel time between Agartala and Guwahati, marking a notable improvement in the region's rail connectivity. The Northeastern Frontier Railway (NFR) is at the forefront of this change, with ongoing electrification works to accommodate the high-speed train service.

Currently, the NFR is focused on electrifying the railway network stretching from Dharmanagar to Agartala. This project is anticipated to reach completion by June or July, paving the way for the Vande Bharat Express to extend its service to Agartala. This move is expected to cut down the travel time to Guwahati to just four to five hours, a significant improvement from the current duration of 12 hours.

Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik highlighted the rapid progress under the current administration, contrasting it with the slow pace of railway development in the past. She noted the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in extending the broad gauge railway service to Agartala within two years, a project that had languished for decades. The train service, which now reaches as far as Sabroom in the southern part of Tripura, is a testament to the government's commitment to enhancing connectivity in the northeastern states.

Bhoumik's discussions with Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw have further confirmed the timeline for the electrification work, setting the stage for the Vande Bharat Express to revolutionize travel in the region. This development is eagerly awaited by the residents of Tripura, who will soon enjoy a faster and more efficient rail service to Guwahati.

Despite facing political challenges, including being denied a ticket in the recent polls, Bhoumik continues to play a vital role in state politics as the minister of state, following her resignation from the Assembly for unspecified reasons. Her involvement in the railway project underscores her ongoing commitment to the development of Tripura. With the anticipated completion of the electrification project, the introduction of the Vande Bharat Express in Tripura is set to mark a new era in the region's transportation infrastructure, significantly enhancing the travel experience for its people.
