The Heritage Experiential Museum in Vadnagar, Gujarat, is set to open its doors to visitors on February 1. This world-class museum has been built to showcase Vadnagar's rich history, dating back over 2500 years. With an investment of Rs 298 crores, it is the second-largest heritage museum in the world, after the Acropolis Museum in Greece.

A Journey into Vadnagar's Past
Vadnagar is one of India's oldest cities, with a history as deep as that of Varanasi. It holds great cultural and historical importance. The story of this museum began when Narendra Modi, after becoming the Chief Minister of Gujarat, visited the Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple in Vadnagar. There, he came across evidence of the city's ancient past-a 2300-year-old structure. This led to further archaeological research, and in 2015, excavations uncovered a city more than 2000 years old. To protect and display these findings, the Heritage Experiential Museum was created.
