USCIS Announces Extension For H-1B Visa Registration Deadline

The USCIS has extended the FY2025 H-1B visa registration deadline to March 25, 2024, due to a system outage, facilitating a smoother application process for all parties.

In a significant update for those closely following the H-1B visa procedures, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has recently announced a crucial extension. The initial registration period for the fiscal year (FY) 2025 H-1B cap, initially set to conclude at noon Eastern on March 22, 2024, will now extend until noon Eastern on March 25, 2024. This decision was made to accommodate participants who faced technical difficulties during a temporary system outage, ensuring all interested parties have ample time to register.

For the duration of this extended period, both prospective petitioners and their representatives, where applicable, will need to use a USCIS online account to register each beneficiary electronically for the selection process. In addition, the required registration fee for each beneficiary must be paid accordingly. USCIS has committed to informing selected registrants of their status by March 31, 2024, as per the agency's recent statement.

Facilitating Smooth Registration

In an effort to streamline the registration process further, USCIS introduced new myUSCIS organizational accounts on February 28, 2024. These accounts are designed to enhance collaboration among multiple individuals within an organization and their legal representatives concerning H-1B registrations, petitions, and the associated Form I-907, Request for Premium Processing Service. Starting this year, participation in the H-1B Electronic Registration Process mandates the creation of a new organizational account.

To aid organizations and legal representatives in navigating this updated procedure, USCIS has also initiated Tech Talks sessions starting February 2024. "These sessions serve as a platform for individuals to seek clarification regarding organizational accounts and online filing of Form I-129 for H-1B petitions," stated USCIS. This initiative underscores USCIS's commitment to ensuring a smooth and understandable registration process for all involved.

This extension and the introduction of new organizational accounts signify USCIS's dedication to enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of the H-1B visa application process. With these measures in place, USCIS aims to support applicants and their representatives through any technical challenges, ensuring that all eligible parties can participate in the process without hindrance.
