Bengaluru is set to have a planned power outage today from 10 am to 2 pm because the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) will conduct emergency maintenance work. This work is happening on a major electricity line, the 66 kV line at the Banaswadi substation, feeding power to several parts

of the city. The company states the repairs are needed to keep the electricity network safe and reliable.
List of Areas to be Affected in Bengaluru
Because of this maintenance, the power supply will be switched off in many localities in East and North Bengaluru during those hours. A long list of affected areas includes well-known neighbourhoods such as HRBR Layout (Blocks 1, 2, and 3), Kammanahalli Main Road, Hennur, Horamavu, Ramamurthy Nagar, and many residential layouts like Babusa Palya, Balachandra Layout, Arakavathi Layout, Divya Unnathi Layout, and Vijayendra Garden. Other places like Mallappa Layout, Prakruthi Township, CMR Layout, Shakti Nagar, and Nandanam Colony are also likely to see the outage. There are even more areas listed nearby, extending to OMBR Layout, Kasturi Nagar, Ramaiah Layout, and Doddabanaswadi, among others.
Advisory for Residents
BESCOM has told people in these localities to plan their day ahead since electricity will not be available for several hours in the late morning and early afternoon. They also expect that the power will be restored once the maintenance work is completed, and they urge residents to adjust their schedules and make necessary arrangements for the outage.
This kind of scheduled shutdown is part of regular efforts by the power company to fix urgent technical issues and improve the overall electricity network so that bigger problems don't happen in the future.
