Uber is a San Francisco-based company, which already allows users to purchase train and coach tickets in the UK. And now has started rolling out this new option of booking international & domestic flight bookings for its UK customers and intends to expand in the upcoming weeks.
According to the report, Uber is collaborating with online travel agency Hopper to sell flight tickets & will receive a modest profit from each transaction. According to Hopper, Uber passengers can purchase a flight just like they purchase on another platform by entering their travel information like the date of journey, destination, etc to know the flights which suit the best. Users will also be able to choose and pay for their seats on significant airlines directly from the Uber application.
Users in the U.K. may already reserve rides in cars, buses, trains, and boats using the app. This action is part of the company's ongoing effort to diversify its business beyond typical ride-hailing services and enter new markets in the travel sector.
One of the key benefits of Uber's flight booking service is the convenience it offers to users. By integrating flight booking into the same app that many people already use for ride-hailing, Uber is making it easier for customers to plan and book their entire travel itinerary in one place. Streamlining the booking process, this may allow users to save time and effort.
More people will be attracted to Uber's primary ride-booking business as a result of the addition of the ability to book flights on its app, which will also result in lower rates for trips to the airport when a flight is purchased. In the UK, 40% of trips begin or conclude near transit hubs, while airport trips account for about 15% of Uber's gross bookings.
