Uber Direct in Bengaluru

Along with metro ticketing, Uber has also introduced its business-to-business delivery service, Uber Direct, in Bengaluru. This service is designed to help businesses manage deliveries more efficiently. Initially, Uber Direct will focus on delivering groceries, and it has been launched in partnership with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). Uber's India and South Asia President has said that the company wants to provide a simple plug-and-play system so that businesses can easily use Uber's large logistics network.

Live Metro Updates on Uber App

The Uber app will now also show live metro updates, allowing commuters to get real-time information about train timings and plan their trips better. With this new integration, the overall metro travel experience is expected to improve. Uber has also mentioned that drivers using the platform can join the Uber Direct programme. This could give them additional earning opportunities beyond regular ride bookings.
Moreover, Uber is exploring the idea of launching its Uber Shuttle service in Bengaluru. This service is already running successfully in cities like Delhi and Kolkata and offers comfortable shuttle rides on fixed routes.

Bengaluru Metro's Upgraded Service

Meanwhile, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is also working on major service upgrades. In the next two years, BMRCL aims to increase the frequency of trains to every four minutes on all metro lines. This move is expected to reduce waiting times, encourage more people to use the metro, and make daily travel faster and more reliable.
