Metro services on Kolkata's Blue Line were partially affected on Wednesday afternoon after a crack was found on the track near MG Road station. The issue was reported around 12:45 pm, leading to a temporary shutdown of services between Maidan and Dumdum stations. Around 12:40 pm, a train stopped at

Maidan station and did not move for several minutes as it did not receive a signal. Passengers inside were confused, unsure whether to stay on the train or get off and look for other transport options. After a short wait, an announcement informed them that services had been suspended due to a technical issue.
Kolkata Metro Services Got Disrupted
Many commuters decided to leave the station immediately, while some remained seated inside the train, hoping for movement. About five minutes later, the stuck train was finally allowed to proceed, but only up to Chandni Chowk station. Once it reached Chandni Chowk, passengers were asked to get down as metro services in both directions were fully stopped from that point. This sudden disruption caused inconvenience to hundreds of passengers, especially since it happened during the busy afternoon hours when many people were travelling for work or personal errands.
Metro Commuters Expressed Dissatisfaction
Metro authorities updated commuters through their mobile app 'Amar Metro Kolkata'. The message said: "Due to unavoidable circumstances, limited services are currently available on the Blue Line between Maidan to Sahid Khudiram station and Dumdum to Dakshineswar station. We deeply regret the inconvenience." Many passengers expressed frustration, saying that sudden halts without clear information cause panic and delay. However, metro officials stated that safety was their top priority and services would resume only after ensuring the track was fully secure. Repair teams were immediately sent to inspect and fix the damaged section. Moreover, normal services were expected to resume after the track was declared safe.
