Bengaluru's Yellow Line Metro is expected to run trains more frequently from December 22, as the sixth train is likely to start operating that day. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) received this new six-coach trainset in the last week of November. The coaches were built near Kolkata by

Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL), working under a sub-contract for CRRC Nanjing Puzhen of China, which is supplying a total of 36 trainsets for ₹1,578 crore.
Test Runs & Signalling Checks
Before the new train can carry passengers, it must complete a 750-kilometre mainline test run and undergo signalling integration checks. A senior BMRCL official said the goal is to introduce the train into service before Christmas, most likely on December 22.
Official Statements
Once the sixth train joins the fleet, Metro services during peak hours on the Yellow Line are expected to improve from the current 15-minute gap between trains to around 12 minutes. However, BMRCL is not planning to start operations earlier than 6 am, despite requests from regular commuters. According to another official, at least one train will be kept in reserve as a standby option in case of technical issues or emergency situations.
Bengaluru's Yellow Line to Increase Ridership
The Yellow Line, covering the 19.15-kilometre stretch between RV Road and Bommasandra, opened on August 11. Since then, it has contributed to an increase in Bengaluru Metro's daily ridership, which now crosses one million passengers. Even with the rise in footfall, many commuters on this route are disappointed with the long waiting times and the late start of services in the morning. They hope that adding more trains will make travel smoother and more convenient.
The induction of the new train is expected to provide some relief, though passengers still want further improvements in service frequency and timings.
