Southern Railway has announced the temporary cancellation of the Sengottai-Madurai Junction special train services due to ongoing yard remodelling work at Tirunelveli Junction to improve railway operations and enhance facilities at the station.

According to a railway statement, Train No. 06846, which operates as the Sengottai-Madurai Junction Special, will remain cancelled from June 20 until further notice. Similarly, Train No. 06845, the Madurai Junction-Sengottai Special, will be cancelled from June 19 because of the same maintenance and development activities.

Why is the Change Necessary?

The temporary suspension of these services is necessary to allow railway authorities to carry out the yard remodelling work safely and efficiently.
