Russia To Start Electronic Visa Services for Indian Passport Holders From 1st August 2023

Beginning on August 1, 2023, holders of Indian passports will be able to enter Russia, one of the top tourist attractions for visitors from India, using electronic visas (e-visas). This change is anticipated to speed up the visa application procedure and encourage travel between the two nations.

Since 2020, when the COVID-19 epidemic caused international travel restrictions, Russia's E-Visa service has been suspended which is now being resumed. Citizens of 52 nations will be able to obtain an electronic visa, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced.

In addition to people from China, India, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, & Turkey, these nations also include people from the European Union (EU) and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). With an estimated consular fee of USD 40, the E-Visa is a cost-effective solution for those who want to visit Russia and tick one more country added to their dream list.

The holder of the visa must enter the nation within the 60 days that the visa is declared to be valid for usage. The E-Visa permits a stay of up to 16 days once in Russia. This new initiative will make it easier to travel to the Russian Federation for a variety of reasons, such as business trips, tourist visits, and event participation, among others.

Travelers will have the chance to see Russia's extensive cultural history, see well-known sites like the Red Square in Moscow, and experience St. Petersburg's spectacular splendour. The ability to attend conferences, meetings, and research prospective investment possibilities across numerous industries will be available to business travelers.

Through an online application gateway, travellers can apply for a visa from the convenience of their own homes. Typically, the procedure entails completing an application form, uploading the appropriate files, and paying the necessary fees. The e-Visa system will have a four-day maximum processing window after the application has been filed for a single-entry visa.

It is a significant step because Indian travellers will now be able to apply for visas electronically, as this would reduce the need for them to physically visit Russian consulates or embassies. Indian citizens would be able to apply for visas online quickly and easily, saving time and effort. This convenience is probably going to inspire more Indians to travel to Russia, which will increase tourism and improve cross-border ties.
