The South Western Railway is moving forward with plans to run a Vande Bharat Express between Bengaluru and Mangaluru. This became possible after the electrification of the Sakleshpur-Subrahmanya Road ghat section, which was one of the most challenging parts of this route because of its difficult terrain. The ghat stretch

has many tunnels, bridges, and curves, and work here took nearly two years to complete.
Vande Bharat Trains
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that the entire route is now ready for Vande Bharat trains. Earlier, some people had doubts about whether the new train could run on this section, but the electrification work cleared that concern.
There has been strong demand from passengers, rail fans, and local politicians for a Vande Bharat service on this scenic line. They support it not only for faster travel but also because the journey offers beautiful views. One rail enthusiast mentioned that the introduction of this stronger, faster train would make this route a dream trip for many travellers.
During the electrification process, some regular trains were disrupted temporarily, including the popular Gomteshwara Express with its special Vistadome coach, which was paused but has now resumed service.
Even though the new line is electrified and ready, SWR officials say traffic on the route can't be increased much because of the natural limitations of the ghat section. Still, with the infrastructure now in place and widespread support for the idea, the Bengaluru-Mangaluru Vande Bharat Express is seen as likely to be launched soon.
