The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) is continuing maintenance work on power plants and substations in different parts of Karnataka. This work is planned to be completed on December 19 and December 20. Due to this maintenance, several areas have been facing long power cuts.
Why is the Power Cut Happening?
In Byadarahalli and nearby localities, electricity supply has been stopped for up to 12 hours a day from December 14 to December 19. BESCOM had earlier informed residents that the power shutdown would take place daily from 10 am to 10 pm. The main reason for this outage is the upgradation of transformer capacity at the Byadarahalli power distribution centre, which is expected to improve power supply in the future.
Areas to be Affected
The areas affected during this 12-hour power cut include Madeshwaranagar, Prasanna Layout, Nadakerappa Industrial Area, Herohalli, Tunganagar, Vishweshwara Nagar, Anjana Nagar, Annapoorneshwari Nagar, Sunjadakatte, Nilgiri Hegganahalli, Kodigehalli, Skada Nagar, Chikkagollarhatti, Seegehalli, Padmavati Industrial Area, Shantilal Layout, BBMP Plant area, Rangegowda Layout, Kannahalli, Sunkadakatte Industrial Area, and D Group Layout.
Another Power Outage to Hit Bengaluru
Moreover, another power outage lasting around seven hours is affecting parts of Bengaluru under the RHCS Bengaluru project. This work, which began on December 10 and will continue until December 20, involves shifting 11KV and secondary power lines, transformers, and electric poles. These changes are being made to clear obstacles for footpath development along both sides of Bengaluru Double Road. Power supply is being interrupted daily from 10 am to 6 pm.
Areas Experiencing Frequent Power Cuts
Because of this, electricity from the 11KV sub-station supplying the F-10 Prabhakar Layout and F-22 KEB Quarters feeders has been disrupted. Areas such as Bengaluru Road, Kanampalli, Prabhakar Layout, Gundappa Layout, Anjani Layout, Ashraya Layout, Kempama Layout, Venkatagirikote, Filter Bed Circle, Royal Circle, Bagepalli Circle, Tank Bund Road, Teachers Colony, and Timmasandra are experiencing power cuts.
