Residents of the Disha Loharuka Solaris apartment complex in Gottigere, Bengaluru, were left without electricity for almost an entire day because the electricity board cut power to the whole building over unpaid bills linked to some flats.

Disconnection of Electricity
On December 24, 2025, the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) disconnected electricity to about 150 flats in the building on Bannerghatta Road. The power cut happened because there were around ₹2 lakh worth of unpaid dues tied to 30 vacant flats that still had the builder's name on their electricity accounts. Even though the residents living in most of the occupied flats had paid their bills on time, the entire complex was disconnected.
Complaints of Residents
The residents were very upset and complained that it was unfair to cut power for everyone when only the empty flats had unpaid bills. They said it would have been much better if Bescom had cut power only to the specific defaulting flats by identifying them through their meter numbers. People shared their frustration online, calling the decision unjust and avoidable.
Adding to the residents' problems, the builder was not available to help. Residents said the builder had not transferred the electricity connections from his name to the homeowners or to the apartment association. He also failed to provide important documents like occupancy and completion certificates, even after collecting maintenance charges for two years. Because of this, the homeowners are stuck in a legal and administrative mess and have filed a case against the builder.
Pending of Dues
Bescom officials stated the dues had been pending for more than a year and explained that new owners are required to transfer electricity connections to their own names. Bescom also said it could not disconnect only the affected flats until the total pending amount was cleared.
