Vande Bharat Trains Roll Out Regional Menus Across 11 Services, Introducing Local Indian Dishes

Indian Railways has changed the food served on Vande Bharat trains to make journeys more enjoyable for passengers. The new plan focuses on offering authentic, local dishes from different regions of India rather than having the same menu everywhere. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently asked the Railways to include regional

flavours in these premium trains so that passengers enjoy local delicacies while travelling.

New Food Menus in 11 Vande Bharat Trains

After this instruction, the Ministry of Railways, through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), announced new food menus for 11 Vande Bharat Express trains. These updated menus will not remain limited to only a few trains. In the coming months, the Railways plans to slowly introduce similar regional food options on all other Vande Bharat services across the country.

Total Trains Running on Different Routes

At present, 164 Vande Bharat Express trains with Chair Car coaches are running on different routes in India. These semi-high-speed trains are manufactured by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai and are very popular among passengers, often running with full seating capacity.

Special Menus

As part of the new menu, passengers on the Nagpur-Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express will be served Maharashtra's popular Kanda Poha. They will also get South Indian dishes such as Dondakaya Karam Podi Fry and the famous Andhra Kodi Kura from Andhra Pradesh.

Gujarati dishes have also been added to some routes. Methi Thepla is now served on the Mumbai Central-Gandhinagar Capital Vande Bharat Express, while Masala Lauki is available on the Sabarmati-Veraval Vande Bharat Express.

Passengers travelling on the Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express can enjoy Odisha's well-known Aloo Phulkopi. On the Kasargod-Thiruvananthapuram route, Kerala-style meals such as rice, curries, paratha, curd, Palada Payasam, and Appam are being served. West Bengal's popular Murgir Jhol has been introduced on the New Jalpaiguri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express.
