Pune residents are being advised to prepare for traffic delays in many parts of the city. The Pune Traffic Police announced on Sunday that important repair activities like road resurfacing, sewer line installations, and gas pipeline work are being carried out. These projects are likely to slow down vehicle movement in several busy areas. Citizens are urged to follow traffic guidelines and stay updated to avoid disruptions.

Major Roads Affected
Some of the major roads expected to face traffic problems include Ahmednagar Road, Sinhagad Road, Katraj-Kondhwa Road, and key localities like Baner-Balewadi, Aundh, Hadapsar, and Bibvewadi. Vehicle movement will be slower in these places as maintenance work progresses. People traveling through these areas should plan their trips carefully to avoid long delays.
Strict Deadline for Contractors
To ensure that all work is completed before the rainy season, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has set a strict deadline of May 31 for contractors. This is being done to prevent problems like waterlogging during the monsoon, which could make life even harder for city residents. DCP (Traffic) Amol Zende has asked inspectors to carefully monitor the progress of the repair work.
In a statement to the Hindustan Times, DCP Zende said, "Due to poor traffic management around construction sites, we are witnessing severe congestion at several locations. This is a matter of grave concern. All civic works must be completed and roads restored before the onset of the monsoon."
Temporary Road Closures at 61 Locations
Along with the traffic delays, PMC has also started temporary road closures at 61 different places to allow pre-monsoon maintenance work. The PMC had sent a request for a 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) to the traffic police for 63 locations. Approval has been given for 61 of these.
Additional Commissioner Prithviraj BP, quoted by Mint, said, "All the work needs to be completed within the next month." This strong push highlights the city's effort to finish important work before heavy rains arrive.
Plan Your Travel
In total, around 50 important locations across Pune are expected to experience traffic problems because of these projects. The Pune Police and PMC are asking residents to stay alert, check traffic updates regularly, and plan their routes in advance. By cooperating with these guidelines, everyone can help ensure that the work is completed on time and the city remains safer during the upcoming monsoon season.
