Pune Metro Phase 2 has proposed nearly 22 km of integrated double-decker flyovers as part of its expansion project across the city on important routes such as Ramwadi-Wagholi, Vanaz-Chandani Chowk, Kharadi-Khadakwasla, and Bhairoba Nala-Akashwani.

Pune Metro Phase 2
The new corridors will include six-lane and eight-lane elevated roads built together with metro lines to reduce traffic congestion in Pune's public transport network. Under Phase 2 of the Pune Metro Rail Project, around 55 km of new metro viaducts are planned across the city.
Pune Metro Phase 1
Maha-Metro, which completed around 33 km of metro viaduct work in Phase 1 and is currently building another 4.4 km extension, has started appointing an independent proof-checking consultant. This consultant will verify structural designs and ensure safety standards are followed properly. Officials said the consultant will review designs prepared by contractors working on the project. The checking process will include metro viaducts, foundations, piers, station structures, bearings, and elevated road sections wherever needed.
Pune Metro Lines
One major project is the Ramwadi-Wagholi corridor on Line 2B, where around 4.8 km will have a fully integrated double-decker structure under Maha-Metro. Another 6.8 km stretch will include a lower-level elevated road by the Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation, while the metro line will be built above it.
The Vanaz-Chandani Chowk section on Line 2A will also include an elevated road and a foot overbridge connecting Chandani Chowk Metro Station with the national highway footbridge.
The Kharadi-Khadakwasla and Nal Stop-Manikbaug corridors under Lines 4 and 4A will together cover around 33 km with both normal and double-decker structures. Another 5 km double-decker section is planned between Bhairoba Nala and Akashwani on Solapur Road.
Pune Metro Final Station Designs
Officials said the final station designs and alignments may change after discussions with agencies such as Pune Municipal Corporation, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority, and National Highways Authority of India.
Pune Metro officials added that viaduct work will be completed before station construction starts. Executive director Atul Gadgil said the DPR for Phase 2 already includes double-decker corridors, while PMC engineer Dinkar Gojare said the state government is positive about supporting new flyovers in the Hadapsar area.
