Public transport in Pune is set to improve further with the expansion of the Pimpri Chinchwad Metro. Metro Expansion to Improve Connectivity
The new Metro route will connect key areas like Nigdi, Nashik Road, Bhosari, Moshi, Wakad Bypass, Ravet, Mukai Chowk, the Pune-Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway, Pimple Saudagar, and Pimple Gurav. By linking these locations, the Metro will help reduce traffic congestion and offer a faster way to travel within the city.
Project Report Nearing Completion
The Maha Metro started working on this project last year, and now it has reached the final stages of planning. The detailed project report includes information about the route alignment, station locations, land requirements, and expected passenger numbers. Once completed, the DPR will be submitted to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) for review. After that, it will be sent to the state and central governments for final approval.
An official, as cited by a Times of India report, said, "PCMC will provide its recommendations on the DPR, which will then be forwarded to state and central governments." This highlights the collaboration between different authorities to bring this project to life.
Second Metro Route for Pimpri Chinchwad
This expansion is the second Metro route being developed in Pimpri Chinchwad. The first Metro line from Dapodi to PCMC is already running, making travel easier for many people. The construction of another Metro stretch from PCMC to Nigdi is also underway. This new extension will further improve connectivity, especially for people living in the suburbs.
