New Trainset Features

The new trainset has several modern features to improve passenger comfort and safety. It has stylish interiors, energy-efficient systems, and an upgraded passenger information display. The coaches are connected with extra-wide gangways so that people can move easily between them. Other features include USB charging ports, better seating design, and improved facilities for passengers with disabilities. The train also meets advanced fire safety and crash protection standards. It supports CBTC (Communication-Based Train Control) technology, enabling fully driverless operation.

Prototype for Pink Line

BMRCL Managing Director J. Ravishankar officially unveiled the prototype for the Pink Line in the presence of BEML Chairman and Managing Director Shantanu Roy and other senior officials. They also observed the trial run of the new train at the BEML Rail Complex.

Supply of Metro Cars for Blue Line

According to BEML, it will supply 318 Metro cars for the Blue Line (airport line) and Pink Line. All these cars are being designed, engineered, and built at BEML's Bengaluru unit. Each trainset will undergo detailed testing and commissioning according to BMRCL's schedule. BEML will also provide maintenance support for up to 15 years.

BEML New Order

Recently, BEML received an additional order worth ₹414 crore from BMRCL. Under this order, the company will deliver six more driverless trainsets (36 cars) for Phase 2, specifically the Yellow Line (Reach 5). Earlier, in March 2025, BEML had also secured another order worth ₹405 crore to supply 42 more cars for Reach 6. With these new additions, the total number of trainsets being supplied has increased from 53 (318 cars) to 66 (396 cars).
