Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the inauguration of the newly constructed Ayodhya Airport, christened 'Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, at Ayodhya Dham,' following a spirited roadshow that showcased the city's cultural vibrancy. The event also witnessed the unveiling of the revamped Ayodhya railway station.
Amidst the sea of enthusiastic onlookers lining the route from the airport to the railway station, the Prime Minister exchanged greetings with the crowd, at times even opening the car door to reciprocate the warmth. Flower petals rained down as slogans praising the Prime Minister echoed through the air. The lively atmosphere was further enriched with cultural performances by local troupes along the route.
Apart from these monumental inaugurations, PM Modi flagged off the new Amrit Bharat and Vande Bharat trains, setting the stage for enhanced connectivity in the region.
In a significant move to underscore the city's historical and cultural significance, the Ayodhya airport is named after the revered sage poet Maharishi Valmiki. The Prime Minister's Office revealed that the state-of-the-art airport's Phase 1 development incurred a cost exceeding Rs 1,450 crore, featuring a terminal building spanning 6500 sqm to cater to around 10 lakh passengers annually.
The terminal building itself stands as a tribute to the grandeur of the upcoming Shri Ram Mandir of Ayodhya, with its facade adorned in temple architecture. Furthermore, the interiors boast local art, paintings, and murals depicting the life of Bhagwan Shri Ram, infusing a cultural essence into the very infrastructure of the airport.
Highlighting a commitment to sustainability, the Ayodhya airport's terminal building is equipped with various eco-friendly features. An insulated roofing system, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, landscaping with fountains, a water treatment plant, sewage treatment plant, and a solar power plant are among the measures implemented, securing a GRIHA 5-star rating.
Addressing the development spree, the Prime Minister is set to lay the foundation stones for a host of projects aimed at propelling Uttar Pradesh into a new era of growth and progress. The strategic initiatives encompass diverse sectors, promising to uplift the lives of the people residing in the state.
