The priority corridor of the Patna Metro Rail Project is now in its final stage. Three stations, Bhootnath, Zero Mile, and Patliputra ISBT, are already operational, and construction on the remaining sections is progressing quickly. Officials say that the metro will soon be ready to operate up to Malahi Pakri.

Detailed Updates
During a review meeting, Abhay Kumar Singh, the secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department and MD of PMRCL, said the remaining work is being completed in "mission mode" under strict deadlines. Senior officials from PMRCL and DMRC gave detailed updates on construction progress, finances, system installation, and other key milestones. Singh instructed teams to finish the two pending stations, Malahi Pakri and Khemnichak, on the 6.5 km elevated stretch from Patliputra ISBT to Malahi Pakri as quickly as possible. These stations are essential for starting metro services on the full initial stretch, called the Blue Line. However, he also stressed that speed must not affect safety or quality. He ordered continuous monitoring of important tasks like track work, installing the third rail, signalling, and other technical systems.
Officials confirmed that the first metro section up to Malahi Pakri is on track to open soon. Once it begins service, the priority corridor will connect five major stations and help reduce traffic in Patna.
Work on Main Corridors
Alongside this, work on the two main corridors, Corridor I (Danapur to Khemnichak) and Corridor II (Patna Junction to ISBT), is also progressing. Tunnelling and viaduct construction on these longer routes is picking up speed.
When fully completed, the Patna Metro will cover about 31 km with 24 stations, greatly improving travel in the city. Corridor I will be 17.9 km long with both elevated and underground sections, while Corridor II will include a 7.9 km underground stretch. The priority corridor has been running since October 7, 2025, serving around 7,000 passengers daily and up to 11,000 on weekends.
