Passengers using Bengaluru's Yellow Line metro will have to wait a few more months for quicker and more frequent train services. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has stated that trains running every 12 minutes during peak hours will only be possible by the end of this year. At

present, only four trains are operating on the 19 km Yellow Line, resulting in a waiting time of about 19 minutes. When the line first opened in August with just three trains, commuters had to wait nearly 25 minutes between services.
Fifth Train Arrival
There is some improvement on the way. A fifth train has reached the Hebbagodi depot and is now undergoing static testing. According to reports, it is likely to start passenger service in early November. A BMRCL official mentioned that dynamic tests, such as checking traction, brakes, and signalling, were scheduled to begin on October 17. After that, the train must complete 750 km of test runs before being allowed to carry passengers.
Manufacturing of Sixth Train
Once the fifth train is introduced, the waiting time should drop to around 15 minutes. The sixth train is currently being manufactured, with parts arriving from China. It is expected to join the fleet by December, which would further improve the frequency to 12 minutes.
However, BMRCL currently has no standby train, which creates challenges during technical issues. Recently, a train breakdown caused a 20-minute delay in services. Officials stated that things will improve once the seventh train arrives, as it will be kept as a backup.
