Delhi, the capital of India, is set to introduce 'women-only' parks where men will not be allowed. The action is a result of the city's efforts to increase the safety and accessibility of public spaces for women.
The pre-project work has begun, and MCD authorities are now choosing places for the parks to be built. The counselors are expected to locate these areas within their particular wards. The Delhi MCD oversees 250 municipal wards, and soon each of those wards will have a Pink Parks dedicated to women, old people, and children.
There are currently more than 15,000 parks in Delhi. Most of the time, attending these parks makes women feel insecure, and males tend to use the equipment in the open gyms and while working out or just spending time outdoors, women experience safety concerns.
The main goal of these parks, stated by Delhi Deputy Mayor Aaley Mohammad Iqbal, is to give more comfortable space as well as a variety of amenities for women living in the city.

Aaley Mohammad Iqbal, the deputy mayor, requested that such parks be created during a review meeting of the sector last month, according to a senior official from the horticulture department. Nearly 90% of the more than 15,000 parks in Delhi are run by the MCD's horticulture division.
One pilot project already exists:
In addition, Mr. Iqbal mentioned that a "pink park" on Mata Sundari Road had been established as a pilot project and that ladies and children up to the age of 10 were welcome to go there. As Parda Bagh and Zenana Park date back to the colonial era, the idea of parks reserved exclusively for women is not new to the capital city of India.
The same concept will also be used in other wards to give the women a comfortable outside environment. These upcoming "pink parks" will have:
- Gyms,
- CCTV cameras,
- Restrooms, and
- Wall graffiti
Some think that the introduction of 'women-only' parks in Delhi is a step in the right direction towards making public spaces safer and more accessible for women. While there are valid arguments against the concept of 'women-only' parks.
