Now Visit Vidhana Soudha: Bengaluru's Historic Government Building Opens for Tours

For the first time, the Karnataka government has decided to open the doors of Bengaluru's Vidhana Soudha to the public. This will allow people to visit the state's main legislative building on public holidays. The goal is to give citizens and tourists a chance to learn more about the building's history, design, and importance in the state's governance. This is a new step towards promoting tourism and educating people about Karnataka's political and cultural heritage.

Guided Tours to Discover the Secrets of Vidhana Soudha

Visitors will be allowed to tour Vidhana Soudha in groups of up to 30 people from 8 am to 6 pm. Each group will be guided by an officer from the Tourism Department. The officer will explain the building's beautiful architecture, its background, and its role in running the state. The idea is to help people understand how the government works while enjoying a close look at one of Karnataka's most famous landmarks.

This plan is inspired by similar public visits at places like Rashtrapati Bhavan and the Indian Parliament. It aims to bring people closer to government buildings and processes, making them more open and easier to understand.

Public-Friendly Plans and Booking Details

The Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, U T Khader, has led this initiative. He wants to make the legislative process more open and friendly for everyone. The tours will be priced reasonably so that more people can take part. Also, an online booking system will be launched soon to make it easy for people to reserve their tour spots.

A Place for Culture and Literature

Earlier this year, Vidhana Soudha also became a cultural hub when it hosted Bengaluru's first-ever book and cultural festival. This event took place from February 27 to March 3 and was organized by the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. It celebrated Kannada literature, local culture, and food. Around 150 stalls were set up, most of them highlighting Kannada books, while some had books in English and other languages too. New authors also got a chance to present their work at the festival.

Opening Vidhana Soudha to the public and hosting cultural events shows the Karnataka government's new approach. By mixing learning with culture, the state is helping people feel more connected to both their government and their heritage. This step will allow many to see and understand how the state functions and why Vidhana Soudha is such an important place.
