Mumbai is expected to witness light rainfall over the weekend, but the city is unlikely to experience the kind of heavy downpour seen earlier this week. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), only light to moderate showers are likely in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar, with no major weather-related disruptions expected at present.

No Weather Alert in Mumbai, Occasional Rain to Continue
The weather department has forecast a generally cloudy sky with occasional light rain during the day. While some areas may receive brief spells of moderate rainfall, widespread heavy rain is not expected. However, residents are advised to carry umbrellas and stay updated with the latest weather advisories before stepping out.
The IMD has also announced that there is no major weather warning for Mumbai at the moment, unlike the red and orange alerts issued earlier during intense monsoon activity. Although the rain intensity has reduced, isolated showers may still occur in different parts of the city throughout the weekend.
People travelling over the weekend can expect mostly normal road, rail, and air services. However, brief traffic congestion and waterlogging may still occur in low-lying areas if sudden showers become heavier. Commuters are advised to check traffic and transport updates before starting their journey.
The recent spell of monsoon rain has significantly improved water storage in Mumbai's lakes. According to official data, the city's seven lakes now hold nearly 50% of their total storage capacity, providing relief after concerns over water availability earlier this season. At the same time, the IMD has forecast that rainfall activity is likely to remain subdued for the next few days as the current monsoon system weakens.
