West Bengal celebrated the launch of its latest Vande Bharat Express train, enhancing connectivity with Bihar. Flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the service aims to strengthen the rail network between the two states, commencing regular operations from March 14.

West Bengal celebrated the launch of its latest Vande Bharat Express train on Tuesday, marking a significant development in the state's rail connectivity. This train, now connecting New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal to Patna in Bihar, was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conferencing. As the prime minister initiated its journey, the train, adorned with flowers, commenced its inaugural trip from the New Jalpaiguri station.

Enhancing Connectivity Between States

The introduction of this train is seen as a crucial step in improving the link between West Bengal and Bihar. It is the sixth Vande Bharat Express to serve West Bengal, reflecting the state's growing importance in India's rail network. The train's operation was detailed by a senior official from the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), who shared that regular service on the New Jalpaiguri–Patna–New Jalpaiguri route would commence from March 14, running six days a week.

Service Schedule and Capacity

The train is scheduled to leave New Jalpaiguri at 5.15 am, arriving at Patna Junction by 12.10 pm the same day. For the return journey, it departs Patna Junction at 1.00 pm, reaching New Jalpaiguri at 8 pm. It will navigate the 471 km distance between the two cities in approximately seven hours, passing through Kishanganj and Katihar on both legs of the journey. With eight coaches in total, including one executive class, five chair cars, and two driver trail coaches, the train can accommodate 530 passengers.

A Milestone for Rail Travel in the Region

This new addition to the Vande Bharat Express fleet in West Bengal is a part of a broader initiative by the Indian government to enhance rail connectivity and passenger experience across the country. The Vande Bharat Express trains are known for their speed and comfort, offering an efficient travel option for passengers. The launch of this train not only strengthens the bond between West Bengal and Bihar but also highlights the commitment to improving the infrastructure and travel facilities for the people.
