Delhi Metro is also the longest metro network in India, and this new development marks another important step in its growth.

Delhi Metro's Golden Line

The construction has started on the Saket G-Block to Lajpat Nagar corridor, also known as Line 11 under Phase-IV. On Friday, DMRC held the First Test Pile and Ground-Breaking Ceremony at Pushpa Bhawan near Saket. This event officially marked the beginning of major construction work for the new corridor.

Official's Statement

According to DMRC officials, the first test pile represents the start of large-scale civil work and forms the base for building this elevated metro line. Once completed, this corridor will play a key role in improving metro connectivity in South Delhi.

Golden Line & Its Benefits

The new Golden Line stretch will be 8.385 kilometres long and fully elevated. It will have eight metro stations: Lajpat Nagar, Andrews Ganj, Greater Kailash-1, Chirag Delhi, Pushpa Bhawan, Saket District Centre, Pushp Vihar, and Saket G-Block. This metro route is expected to greatly benefit residents of South Delhi by making daily travel faster and more convenient. Areas such as Greater Kailash, Saket, Pushp Vihar, and nearby localities will enjoy better metro access. Several schools, government offices, and commercial areas in these regions will also be more easily reachable.

Golden Line to Connect Other Metro Lines

The corridor has been planned to connect smoothly with existing metro lines. It will link with the Magenta Line at Chirag Delhi and with the Violet and Pink Lines at Lajpat Nagar. With these connections, Lajpat Nagar will become a major interchange station, offering improved travel options and easier movement across Delhi.
